Purpose of the Job
1. Ensure a continued process of improvement and support in the standards of Quality, Health, Safety and Environment
2. Support the account wide adoption of the appropriate Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental strategy for the business in line with the client Strategic Plan and associated policy and process.
3. Monitor, review and analyse QHSE performance, identify appropriate initiatives and differentiators to enable the performance improvement and to be aligned with the market sector growth strategy.
4. Support the development and implementation of the account Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental strategy to ensure a safe, healthy and compliant working environment whilst furthering best practice standards.
Key Responsibilities
1 Develop and manage the implementation of client QHSE plan and management system. Adhere to all quality, health & safety, and environmental policies within the company.
2 Liaise with respective construction professionals to ensure expectations are understood and delivered as far as is reasonable to maintain satisfactory management of potential risk exposures.
3 Support the identification and management of QHSE risk within the company
4 Provide guidance and practical expertise on QHSE topics ensuring there is appropriate day-to-day support and guidance to both internal and external customers.
5 Maintain and regularly review all related documentation in line with legal requirements. Provide updates and ensure documentation is easily available to all personnel, as well as provide training as and when required.
6 Promote the continued development of a strong embedded QHSE culture and high levels of employee awareness within the business.
7 Engage supply chain and ensure expectations are understood through the provision of best in class workshops and in the completion of QHSE Collaboration audits.
8 Maintain relationships with industry peers supplier organisations and develop a culture of sharing best practice and innovation through collaborative working.
9 Review all method statements, and risk assessments, ensuring all QHSE aspects are adhered to for approval.
10 Liaise with onsite team on all QHSE aspects of the project for day to day operations
11 Manage all QHSE platforms.
12 Management and reporting of Incidents and Accidents; ensuring all events are fully investigated; root causes identified and corrective / preventative actions identified and implemented.
13 Help with the development of and support of initiatives and best practice activities in all areas of QHSE management.
14 Compile appropriate performance reports and maintain performance monitoring, analysis and review against established metrics and standards to drive improvements.
15 Support the achievement of good industry practice, business competitiveness, and the development of a learning organisation.
16 Support effective business communication through advice, review, leadership and direct contribution to management and team meetings, briefings, consultation forums, correspondence, publicity, monthly and ad-hoc reporting and other publications, as appropriate.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Education [Essential] A good general education. A formal management qualification in health, safety management. Practical application of auditing and membership of IIRSM or IOSH at Diploma level.
Training [Essential] Incumbents must be able to demonstrate a career showing continuous personal development in the related field of QHSE.
Experience [Essential] Practical experience must include:
Knowledge and experience of implementing QHSE Management in a construction environment.
Knowledge of Heavy Civils.
Development of policy and process.
Positively present QHSE through suitable presentation media.
Aptitudes Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Numerate with a high degree of computer literacy.
Ability to be able to problem solve, interpret complex issues and motivate others to work to the best of their ability is essential.
Character Excellent motivational and influencing skills.
Able to contribute effectively and on equal terms across all business activities.
Incumbents must have a high level of energy, be self-starters, confident and stable in manner, and be able to prioritise and work on a range of activities within a high-pressure environment.
